New Model: Rift

Hey guys!

We have another new model for you all! This one is called the "Rift" and it was a one hell of a rollercoaster to build. It was our first time using epoxy resin and took quite a few attempts to get it to cure properly and to achieve a nice bubble free cast. It was touch and go for a while as to whether the Rift would see the light of day but in the end we cracked it and it looks fantastic!

We were going for a "water running through a canyon" feel for the top. The mixture of Yew, Resin and a Cocobolo middle strip work very well to achieve that. With the fact we were going to have transparent sections on the top, we needed to make the base woods an interesting mix as well. We decided upon an 13 piece laminate consisting of a combination of Flamed Black Walnut, Flamed Maple & Cocobolo.

The neck had to reflect the diversity of the body so we decided on an 11 piece laminate of Honduras Mahogany, Wenge, Purpleheart & Flamed Maple. Topping the neck off with a 5 piece fretboard of Flamed Maple and Wenge, it really brings the whole build together!

As for hardware & pickups, we wanted to keep it as simple and focused as possible so we gave it a Hipshot® .125 Bridge and Gotoh® locking tuners. Loaded with a massive 21.5k Bare Knuckle Pickups® Warpig, this thing can unleash merry hell if driven hard!
